ANNIE COLLINGE "MAGIC IN THE AIR"

ART AND LIFE MAG got the chance to pick the brain of the talented and surreal Annie Collinge, her work is a mixture of playful surrealism and conceptual wit.

A+L =How did you get your start in Photography?
AC+ I started taking pictures when I was 16, at first I was really fascinated with the process of developing and printing. My family introduced me to the photographer Harry Borden, when I was 18 I started working as an assistant to him while studing at Central St. Martins and Brighton

A+L=Who inspired you the most?
AC+Harry Borden really taught me loads about the industry and really helped me with any problems I came across. Some of my favorites are Guy Bourdin, Francesa Woodman, Taryn Simon, Larry Sultan, and Diane Arbus

A+L=What do you shoot with?
AC+Bronica 66, Canon 1ds mark 11, Mamiya rb67 and I always carry a canon G10 powershot at all times in my bag!! If Im doing personal work I perfer to always shoot 120 flim I love the colors it produces. Im not a real fan of digital but is what you need to know to survive.

A+L=Your Thought Process?
AC+I like images that are sort of melancholic, I always like to use vivid colors as a sort of contrast to this. I just think of the one off image in my head and then go about looking for the
props to make it. I love flea markets and interesting people to shoot!

A+L=Any Cool Projects?
AC+Living in New York (I'm from London originally)working on personal work as well as w editorial, I hope to put on and exhibition of the work I have done in New York.

INTERVIEW WITH FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER HUNG N'GUYEN

Hung n'Guyen one of the up and coming stars of the fashion photography world sits down and talks about whats going on in his world.

A+L Q: How did you get your start in photography?

A: Actually it came by accident. After finishing school I had a traineeship at a food and stilllife photographer. I was really excited about lighting and beauty of everyday articles. Though the years I assisted serveral photographers I kept my focus on stilllife and car photography but I knew very early that I would like to become a fashion photographer.

A+L Q: What inspires you? What gives you your spark?

A: Life itself is inspiring, There's much hidden beauty in every day life, the spark is the detail,
the difference. to find beauty is the second view.
We learned to see the apparent beauty in a glamour shot.
but glamour doesn't mean to be obviously glamourus. Its often hidden.
my goal is to find that purity in pictures.

A+L Q: What kind of camera are you shooting with?

A: A maymiya RZII with Phase One digital back 45. or 65. million mega pixels
a middle format with lots of weight

A+L Q: Any new projects you working on?

A: I have a few in mind. Sometimes they suddenly mix and 2of 3 ideas become one. New
projects are always in process, at the moment its a men's story.

Hung n'Guyen is repersented by Marlene Ohlsson Photographers she is a wonderful and sweet person doing a great job at representing new talent in the Fashion field. http://www.ohlsson.de/

CHIEF OWL KING AND BEARQUEEN (LASTING WISDOM)

FOR YOUR THOUGHTS AND PASSIONS (you know who you are)

Just wanted to give respect to two of the most interesting, powerful spirits I know, my true family, Chief Owl King has always given me wisdom and has kept me thinking about every action I might make or have made in my life, One of the last old prophets his words ring in my ear and my heart, Bear Queen has given me love and the understanding of how to share it, one of the most powerful lessons we can learn in life, I thank them both from the bottom of my heart. We are one and will always be...
